The Supply Section provides an
internal working and storage area
for nursing staff. It is suspended
from a trolley mounted framework
which contains gloved sleeves and
a supply port allowing the
introduction and removal of
supplies.
Filtered room air is drawn in into
the Bed Isolator by an air supply
unit, and passed via a HEPA filter
into the Patient Section where it
circulate. Air is drawn out through a
double HEPA filter, and the now
sterile air passes through the air
supply unit into an exhaust outlet.
Within the Isolator’s automatic
control system, negative
atmospheric pressure is maintained
to ensure that contaminated air is
not expelled should a leak occur.
Should a fault occur in the
pressure, flow or power supply an
audible and visible alarm is
activated.
The Patient Section provides
accommodation and treatment
area for the patient. The envelope
is suspended from a steel
framework with the bed and
mattress remaining outside. Half
suits and gloved sleeves are
incorporated into the walls of the
envelope to allow for care, medical
examination and treatment of the
patient whilst maintaining the
microbiological barrier.
Bed Isolator
Providing isolation of a patient in a
ward environment, the isolator consists
of two flexible transparent PVC
envelopes and a purpose built air
supply. All of this can be installed
around an existing standard hospital
bed.
