Air is filtered in via two battery
powered HEPA filters situated at the
head of the unit. This air is then
expelled at the foot via a similar
battery powered system.
Within the envelope, negative air
pressure is maintained relevant to
the ambient pressure by manual
operation of the flow control valve.
This prevents leaks of
contaminated air should a rupture
occur in the envelope.
Several feature are included to
adapt this unit for air
transportation including:
•
Special feet with track stud and
pin assemblies to locate the
Isolator into tracking commonly
used aircraft seating
•
Transport handles to allow for
manoeuvring in confined spaces
•
A small battery powered fan for
patient comfort during ground
transportation or delays
•
Purpose built metal container to
house operational spares
The bed consists of a removable
stretcher, a patient harness and
restraining straps (to secure the
lower framework during transit),
fire retardant mattress and
separate lifting canvas.
Half suits and gloved sleeves are
incorporated into the envelope to
allow for medical teams to provide
full care while in transport. A supply
port is situated at the foot of the
envelope to allow for supplies to be
introduced.
